Donkey Label (WBL)

The first of the sketchbooks that I worked on was for Donkey Label, a cycling brand from Minneapolis. The aim of this project was to design a cycling Jersey for the Donkey Label brand which would match a simple pair of black bib shorts.

On their website they say that they like the style of the European football strips, and so this was a big source of inspiration when it came to my designs, incorporating some of the stripes and colours used. As well as the strips, I also looked into other cycling apparel brands such as Rapha to see what else was being done in the world of cycling and how I could make Donkey Label stand out from the crowd.

This was an enjoyable project to work on as it was something that I had never done before in designing clothing, and so presented a fresh challenge and something that I looked forward to getting stuck into. I managed to plan my time well for this, coming up with a final outcome within the week meaning that I could then move onto the next project without having to worry about making up for any lost time. I also felt that the design that I came up with fitted in well with the current Donkey Label range and I also used their main colours to give the familiar feel of the Donkey Label brand.

Upon completion of this project, it opened my eyes further within the world of graphic design as this was not something that I ever saw myself doing but it was a great experience and an enjoyable one at that.
