During the Digital Skills module, there were two designers that I kept looking to for reference and inspiration for the album cover and artwork. These were Peter Saville and Trevor Jackson. I have mentioned them briefly in a previous post however during this module I looked further into their work.
Both well known names in the design world, they have designed album art for some of the biggest bands in the world including Beady Eye, The Klaxons and Joy Division.
Trevor Jackson is one of my favourite designers, taking a clean approach to design using mainly imagery to build up his album designs which is then complimented by simple typography to create stunning pieces of work. This is evident in the work that he did for Beady Eye, where he has created a whole campaign using a beautiful sans serif typeface along with simple imagery.

Peter Saville created the iconic Joy Division album art, using a wave pattern to make up the cover. He says that he didn't feel it necessary to have the album name on the front, something that I decided for on the front of my vinyl. As well as designing album covers, Peter Saville has also worked to redesign the England football strip, as well as art directing adverts for Dior.
