The Digital Skills module followed on from the Work Based Learning module that I have previously talked about, and was something that I was really looking forward to getting involved in. The aim of this module was to take one of the briefs that we worked on, and as is in the title, use digital techniques to finalise the idea.
The project that I chose to take further in the Digital Skills module was the John Digweed album cover for the Bedrock music label.
Like with the Work Based Learning module, I carried out a SWOT analysis before I started so that I could identify my strengths and weaknesses and assess how I have improved over the course of the module.
Strengths - I have all the designs complete so it is a case of digitalising these which saves some time design wise. Communicating my ideas
Weaknesses - My photoshop skills aren't the strongest, I have never worked directly with a photographer
Opportunities - To work with a photography student. To art direct a photo shoot
Threats - The photographer could let me down, the same with the printers when it comes to my final outcome
As well as my SWOT analysis, I have also set myself some targets to again help me evaluate my progress in this module. These are:
- To produce an industry standard outcome at the end of the module
- To collaborate with a photographer and art direct the photo shoot, communicating my ideas
- To learn how to get a project print ready, to be put into production
